Robert Stephan Cohen was a founding partner of Morrison Cohen LLP, a 90-lawyer general practice firm in New York City. For nineteen years he was the firm’s Chair and senior litigation partner. He is presently the senior partner of Cohen Clair
Lans Greifer & Thorpe LLP, a sixteen-lawyer firm concentrating in the area of family law. He has litigated numerous cases and has appeared publicly as counsel to, amongst others, Christie Brinkley, James Gandolfini, Uma Thurman, Tommy Mattola and so on.

In addition to spending substantial time litigating matters in court and counseling clients, Mr. Cohen regularly writes and lectures on issues relating to marriage and its dissolution. He also continues to counsel clients and engage in the litigation of commercial and business disputes. He is the attorney of record in more than seventy-five reported cases in various Federal and State Courts. He is the author of Reconcilable Differences, published by Simon & Schuster.

Mr. Cohen was the subject of a profile in The New York Times where he was referred to as one of the most powerful divorce attorneys in the United States. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and is on the faculty of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. His biography appears in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Cohen is a member of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
