Hon. Roberto Ramirez is a top-level political strategist, lobbyist and a pioneer in New York political elections. In addition to founding MirRam, Mr. Ramirez, an attorney, served as Of Counsel to McConnell Valdes LLC, one of the largest Hispanic-owned law firms in the world, offering services in areas of corporate and commercial practice. During this time, Mr. Ramirez was also the Founder and a Partner of the law firm Oquendo, Ramirez, Zayas, Torres and Martinez LLP in the Bronx.

He chaired the Bronx Democratic Party, becoming the nation’s first county leader of Puerto Rican heritage and a member of the DNC. He served five consecutive terms in the New York State Assembly before retiring to launch a new chapter in his storied journey. During his tenure in the Assembly, Mr. Ramirez played a leadership role, chairing the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Taskforce. He was also chair of the Real Property Taxation Committee, the Social Services Committee, and the Sub-Committee on Urban Health.

Mr. Ramirez’ skills and commitment to excellence are evidenced in political campaigns up and down the ballot. He has played key roles in mayoral campaigns, including mayoral campaigns for Fernando Ferrer, and state-wide races, including for Senator Charles Schumer, Senator Gillibrand and former-Senator Hillary Clinton.

Fighting the Good Fights

Mr. Ramirez has been one of New York’s most formidable activists in the fight against social injustice and racism. Mr. Ramirez’ successful advocacy (including a 40-day stint in federal jail for civil disobedience) helped end the U.S. bombing of the Puerto Rican island of Vieques. Mr. Ramirez advocated with the same zeal, following the brutal shooting of African immigrant Amadou Diallo.

He continues to engage in pro-bono work and advance progressive causes in New York and around the world.
