Ron Nyswaner’s screenplays include: THE PAINTED VEIL (Independent Spirit Award nomination and the National Board of Review’s best adapted screenplay award); SOLDIER’S GIRL (Peabody Award); and PHILADELPHIA (nominations for Golden Globe, Writers’ Guild, BAFTA, and Academy Awards). His first book, BLUE DAYS, BLACK NIGHTS, was called “hilarious and uncompromising” by The New York Times and was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award. Currently, he is writing HAMLET, a feature for Overture Films and director Catherine Hardwicke, THE RABBIT CHRONICLES, a one hour drama pilot for HBO, based on John Updike’s Rabbit novels, and MAN MADE MAN, a drama about Michael Dillon, the world’s first female to male transsexual, for Tea Leoni. He serves on the advisory board of the Woodstock Film Festival and as an advisor for the Sundance Institute. He has received many honors for his civil rights activism including the Ryan White Youth Service Award.
