Ronald Weitzer is a professor of sociology at George Washington University, and received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He has researched many aspects of the sex industry, including trafficking and public policies in various nations, and is the editor of Sex for Sale: Prostitution, Pornography, and the Sex Industry (Routledge, 2010) and author of the forthcoming book, Legalizing Prostitution: From Illicit Vice to Lawful Business (NYU Press, 2011). He is frequently contacted by the media for comment on events related to the sex industry.
