Root Capital is a nonprofit social investment fund that grows rural prosperity in poor, environmentally vulnerable communities in Latin America and Africa by lending capital, delivering financial training, and strengthening market connections for small and growing agricultural businesses. Our clients aggregate and market the harvests of hundreds to thousands of farmers, providing them more stable income while empowering them to invest in their communities and to adopt environmentally sustainable agricultural practices. Founded in 1999, Root Capital has lent more than $500 million to 425 rural enterprises that are improving livelihoods for 750,000 farm families.
