Ruthe Ponturo

Dancer, actress, choreographer

With over thirty years of experience as a dancer, actress, choreographer, and teacher, Ruthe Ponturo has honed her theatrical skills working in New York and St. Louis. A graduate of the University of Arizona with a BFA in Theatre and a Masters Degree in Acting and Directing, Ruthe began her career in regional theatre, continuing on to Off-Broadway roles in Manhattan. However, she put her marriage before her career by moving with her husband to the Midwest in support of his endeavors as a rising corporate executive in St. Louis. While in St. Louis, Ruthe choreographed a number of shows including "A Little Night Music," "West Side Story," and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." She served as choreographer to the Parkway Central High School Grammy winning Music Department for 12 of their musicals, as well as the school's national award-winning show choir "Pizzazz." She also served as Director of the youth department at City Studio Dance Theatre, providing dance training to hundreds of young city children. Returning with her spouse to New York in 2009, Ruthe became an active board member of Rosie O'Donnell's educational foundation "Rosie's Theatre Kids" as well as a board member of "The Humane Society of NY." Member of Actor's Equity Association.
