Sam Albano

Catholic, gay man, activist, writer

Sam Albano is a proud Catholic and a proud member of the LGBT community. Sam describes this intersection of identities as a “Gay-Christian Crossroads,” a reference to his home state of Indiana, the “Crossroads of America.” He is a member of his local Catholic parish and serves on the national board of DignityUSA, an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Catholics. In 2014, Sam was removed from volunteer parish ministry for his views on LGBT issues. Sam has since dedicated himself to advocacy for the well-being of LGBT persons within the Catholic Church, reaching out within his local community and engaging in dialogue with church leaders. Sam is a 2010 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, having majored in education. In his free time, Sam enjoys reading, writing, following current events, and, of course, coffee! Sam lives outside Indianapolis, Indiana.
