Founding Manager, British Divers Marine Life Rescue's Orca Aware Campaign

I am an orca conservationist, marine mammal welfare advocate and writer from South East London. I hold a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Zoology from Durham University and a Postgraduate Diploma in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh. In 2012 I founded the Orca Aware education campaign, which is dedicated to raising awareness about wild and captive killer whales found around the world. The campaign is sponsored by British Divers Marine Life Rescue, the UK's marine mammal rescue charity, which I have worked with since 2007 as a medic, rescue coordinator and course tutor. More recently, I was appointed as a member of the charity's head office staff. I have previously held the positions of Communications Chair for the World Cetacean Alliance and Chair of Dolphinaria-Free Europe, a coalition operating at EU Policy level to end the keeping of cetaceans in captivity. I am passionate about people, also working for one of the world's busiest ambulance services, and I enjoy teaching yoga.
