Sara Alize Cross

Sara Alize Cross is an independent filmmaker and Badass dog rescuer based in Brooklyn, NY.

As a director, Sara has completed short form narrative and documentary films and is working on Manhattan Lullaby, a NYSCA grant funded feature documentary about NYC cultural landmark, Colony Records. Sara’s feature documentary producing credits include Murderball (Sundance Audience Award, Oscar nomination), The Order of Myths (Sundance premiere, Peabody Award) and 21Up America. Sara has contributed to short form documentary style branded content and long form television docu-series as a field producer/shooter, real people casting producer and researcher.

Prior to her career in film, Sara pioneered the field of mainstream green fashion with her eco-friendly line coolnotcruel. In addition to her work creating theatrical feature film, television and web content, Sara is the volunteer president of Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer dog rescue that she founded in 2011 by fostering one dog saved from death row in her one bedroom apartment.

An avid traveler, Sara has independently traveled in over 20 countries on 6 continents. Sara Alize Cross earned her undergraduate degree in film studies at Columbia University and her masters at Oxford, where she wrote her thesis on screwball comedy of the 1930s.
