Girl Up Teen Advisor in Portland, OR

Sarah Gordon is sixteen years old and is a high school sophomore in Portland, Oregon. She is a Teen Advisor for the United Nations Foundation Girl Up campaign, which works to mobilize girls in America to raise funds and awareness to support girls in developing countries. As a Teen Advisor, Sarah represents the campaign in Oregon and helps to educate other girls about the issues that girls face around the world and how they can make a difference.

Sarah was the state winner for Oregon in the 2013 National Peace Essay Contest, an annual program run through the United States Institute of Peace, and she has worked in the Portland community to raise funds to start scholarship programs in countries around the world to help girls go to school. She contributes to several humanitarian blogs and has had her writing published in the Portland Tribune. She hopes to pursue a career in international relations, humanitarian aid and public policy.
