Sarah Key

Writer and editor; author of eight cookbooks, numerous poems, and personal essays

Sarah Key has authored eight cookbooks, including a series called the Hollywood Hotplates, Serendipity Sundaes, and Serendipity Parties. She edited the 2014 encyclopedic cookbook Gusto: The Very Best of Italian Food and Cuisine in addition to other cookbooks like Gail Monaghan’s The Entrees. She loves to study and write poetry, especially with such generous teachers as Sharon Dolin and Jeanne Marie Beaumont. For prose, her writing group that meets at Esther's keeps her focused. She has had poems published in Poet Lore, Naugatuck River Review, InPatient Press, Solares Hill, Poetry Nook Magazine, Truck, and Enizagam. She is particularly proud of an essay she edited called “Consider the Slaughterhouse” featured on The Huffington Post. She is an advisory board member of the Unusual Suspects, a theatre group serving at-risk teens in Los Angeles. The two beautiful children who raised her have moved on to other challenges, so she now shares a Harlem apartment with her son’s old hockey gear.
