Saras Chung, Ph.D, MSW

Faculty Affiliate, Social System Design Lab at Washington University

Dr. Saras Chung works for and with young people whose lives are affected by poverty. Currently, Saras is the executive director of SkipNV, a think tank that co-designs and fund strategies with schools, communities, and funders to increase access to high quality education for the nation’s most vulnerable youth. As a faculty affiliate for the Social System Design Lab at Washington University, Saras also teaches classes on community based system dynamics and designing sustainable social policies and programs. She has over 10 years of hands-on experience working with youth in nonprofits and community settings, and has completed training and dissertation fellowships from the International Society for Child Indicators, the Asian American and Pacific Islander Council of Social Work Education, and the Social System Design Lab. She was recently awarded the Christopher Harris Youth Advocacy Award from Missouri State Representative, Bruce Franks, Jr. Saras received her doctorate and master’s degree in social work from Washington University’s Brown School of Social Work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
