2011 Nobel Laureate in Physics; Professor of Physics, University of California, Berkeley

Saul Perlmutter (A.B. 1981 Harvard, Ph.D. 1986 UC Berkeley) is a 2011 Nobel Laureate, sharing the prize in Physics "for the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the Universe….” He is a professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. His interests in teaching scientific approaches to problem-solving for non-scientists led to a Berkeley course he developed titled “Physics & Music.”
