President Emeritus of Tulane University

Scott Cowen is President Emeritus of Tulane University and author of “The Inevitable City: The Resurgence of New Orleans and the Future of Urban America.” Named one of the top 10 university presidents by TIME Magazine, Cowen has been a leader in New Orleans’ recovery from Hurricane Katrina and in the transformation of the city's public school system. During Cowen’s 16-year tenure, Tulane was twice named one of the “Hottest Schools in America” by Newsweek. While ranked in the top tier of national research universities, Tulane made public service part of its core undergraduate curriculum under Cowen's leadership. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
