Associate Director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University (FIU)
Sebastian Arcos was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1961. He served one year in prison for attempting to leave Cuba illegally in 1981. In 1987 he joined the Cuban Committee for Human Rights (CCPDH), the first independent human rights organization in Cuba. He left Cuba for the US in 1992. Sebastian is Associate Director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University (FIU), Miami’s public university. He holds a BA in International Relations and a Masters in Public Administration from FIU.
