Shadi Bartsch is the Helen A Regenstein Distinguished Service Professor of Classics at University of Chicago. She has authored five books on the ancient world, on such topics as ancient sexuality, political rhetoric, and philosophical self-knowledge. The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and awards for teaching excellence, she travels worldwide as an academic speaker. She is currently writing a book about the Western classics and their reception in China.
