Shannon Sexton

Award-winning journalist, magazine editor & content strategist

A regular contributor to Yoga Journal, Shannon Sexton is the former editor-in-chief of Yoga International, an award-winning magazine that USA Today called “the Bible of yoga practice” and Slate dubbed “ethereally serious.” At that time, Yoga International (which was relaunched as an e-learning site in 2013) showed how yogic principles apply to today’s most pressing issues—from war and politics to environmental activism and social justice—exploring how ancient spiritual wisdom can be a force for change in the modern world.

Shannon Sexton has published features, literary profiles, and service journalism in numerous magazines in the United States and India. Her health reporting earned a 2004 Public Education Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and her poems and creative nonfiction have been anthologized in six books, including the award-winning series Stories from Where We Live. She currently works as an editorial consultant, journalist, and content strategist for numerous health and yoga brands.
