Shawn Ahmed

Born in Canada, after his parents fled Bangladesh after The War of Liberation, Shawn is a gay Muslim and a third culture kid. Shawn's work focuses on using social media for social good. Using social media from his parents' homeland, Shawn has helped villages get clean water, built and refurbished schools, helped children get access to health care, and reported from and responded to emergencies and disasters. Shawn's work has been honoured by The World Economic Forum, Save the Children, and The Webby Awards. In the face of ever rising threats against Queer Muslims, Shawn has returned to Canada where he continues to write and report on issues he is passionate about.
