Shawn Renee Lent

Social practice dance artist

Shawn Renee Lent is a social practice dance artist and manager currently living and working in Cairo, Egypt. Shawn is a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, a nominated Member of the UNESCO International Dance Council (CID), the British Council’s Transatlantic Network 2020, and is a UN Alliance of Civilizations International Fellow.

Ms. Lent was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at the Academy of Arts’ High Institute of Ballet in Cairo, leading a project titled Artist as Catalyst where she is teaching dance classes and lecturing on community arts theory and the role of artists in civil society and education. While in Cairo, Shawn is leading dance experiences at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357.

Prior to coming to Egypt, Shawn was Arts Integration Program Specialist at Columbia College Chicago. Formerly a member of the Open House Dance Collective and staff at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Shawn served on the Young Associates Board of Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Founding Board for Donna’s Good Things, Advisory Board for the Chicago Arts Educators Forum, and was the Founding Chair of the Associates Board for Links Hall
