Shay Chan Hodges is the author of Lean On and Lead, Mothering and Work in the 21st Century Economy, an interactive collection of first person narratives providing deep, personal portrayals of what it takes to significantly participate in the 21st century economy while raising children. In addition to writing Lean On and Lead and speaking about the intersection of work and family, she writes grants for island nonprofits, is active in the community and politics, and is the proud former owner of a Makawao children’s toy and bookstore. Shay resides in Maui with her husband and two teenage sons. She also ran for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District of Hawaii.
