Shelby Highsmith is a near-terminal PhD student at Georgia Tech who
is hoping to graduate before he has to mooch too much money from his
parents, who tolerate his anomalous Democratic persuasion because he
promises to utilize his expensive education in defense of our
country. All he needs to do so is a government willing to listen to
reason.

After a short career as an aerospace engineer and a far-too-long
academic tenure in mechanical research, Shelby is attempting to make
the transition into public policy pertaining to science, technology,
and national security. He began exploring the political utility of
YouTube and other such internet platforms as Communications Chair of
the Young Democrats of Atlanta, and he hopes that a mashup of his
theatrical roots, engineering degrees, and internet hobbies will make
him an effective advocate for technology in front of any government
official willing to put their faith in the laws of science. He blogs
at shelbinator.com and on
occasion at the progressive Georgia blog, Blog for Democracy.
