Shirley Wade McLoughlin

Dr. Shirley Wade McLoughlin is a former registered nurse and elementary school teacher. After receiving her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Miami University of Ohio, she has been teaching graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Education at Keene State College, and has recently served as Chair of this department. Her areas of scholarship are related to oppression, teaching about diversity and difference, curriculum theory, and leadership. She has presented at multiple international and national conferences, and has numerous publications, including a book, A Pedagogy of the Blues. Her interest in examining the role of past oppression in educational systems of newly developing democracies prompted her application and acceptance of a Fulbright Scholar Award. This award enables her to teach at Telavi State University in the Republic of Georgia for the spring of 2013.
