Simon C.Y. Wong

Independent adviser on corporate governance, institutional investment and capital markets

Simon C.Y. Wong is an independent adviser on corporate governance, institutional investment and capital markets. He has served the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), regulatory bodies, consulting firms and other organizations.

Simon is also Adjunct Professor of Law at Northwestern University School of Law and Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science. In addition, he has given lectures on corporate governance and sustainability at Harvard Business School, University of Cambridge, Keio University, and other institutions.

Previously, Simon was a partner at activist investment firm Governance for Owners, Head of Corporate Governance at Barclays Global Investors, and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Simon started his professional career as a securities lawyer with Linklaters & Paines and Shearman & Sterling in London, and also served as Principal Administrator/Counsel at the OECD in Paris.

Simon is a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group of the Global Corporate Governance Forum of the World Bank Group, Latin American Taskforce on Related Party Transactions of the OECD, Strategic Advisory Council for Prize Competition Design of the Aspen Institute, and Shareholder Affairs Committee of the National Association of Pension Funds (UK). He is also a trustee of educational charity Build Africa.

Simon actively contributes to policymaking and recently testified before the UK House of Commons on The Kay Review of UK Equity Markets and Long-Term Decision Making. His writings have appeared in the McKinsey Quarterly, Financial Times, Harvard Business Review Online, International Financial Law Review, Reuters, and other publications (available at http://ssrn.com/author=436348).
