Simon LeVay, Ph.D., was born gay in Oxford, U.K., in 1943. After a career in neuroscience at Harvard Medical School and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, he is now an independent writer and speaker. His most recent book is Gay, Straight, and the Reason Why: The Science of Sexual Orientation (Oxford University Press, 2011). He and his partner Mike live in West Hollywood, California.
