President, Center for Collaborative Democracy

Sol Erdman is the founder and president of the Center for Collaborative Democracy. Erdman is also co-author of The Cure for Our Broken Political Process: How We Can Get Our Politicians to Resolve the Issues Tearing Our Country Apart.

Erdman’s expertise on resolving political conflict emerged at midlife, when he did cutting-edge research with leading thinkers at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. In his work there, Erdman developed new methods for coaxing elected officials to hammer out sensible agreements on contentious issues.

Erdman founded CCD to refine and disseminate these new methods. CCD is currently focused on providing city and state governments with the tools to develop creative, cost-effective solutions to their critical problems. This January, the National Civic Review will publish Erdman’s article on that subject.

Erdman’s articles have also appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Roll Call, The Boston Globe, and The Chicago Tribune. Erdman has also appeared on dozens of radio shows, including NPR’s Talk of the Nation.

Erdman’s earlier life experiences include earning a BA in theoretical mathematics from Cornell, gaining an MBA from Harvard, and building a career at Oppenheimer & Company, a New York investment firm, where he rose to senior vice president and head of options arbitrage before changing direction at midlife.
