Soledad Haren

Freelance journalist and photographer. Producer of the "Green Living" show and founder of Build A Better Planet.

Soledad Haren was born near Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent much of her childhood in Houston, Texas. She spent time living throughout Europe, South America, and Mexico. During college, she worked for a Houston-based corporate law firm. Upon finishing graduate school, she relocated to New York City to study law.

In New York, Soledad worked in the finance industry for several Wall Street securities firms. Then, she returned to the legal field, working for a corporate law firm in many practice areas. In 2004, Soledad left the legal field entirely to work as a chef in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In the wake of 9/11, she developed a passion for all things green. Initially, her focus on holistic medicine and natural foods was to counter the effects of the toxins to which so many New Yorkers were exposed after the fall of the World Trade Center towers. However, this passion for natural living became an all-encompassing mission to be shared with others. Soledad founded Build A Better Planet, a non-profit organization promoting sustainability, to tell others about the benefits of natural living. In 2011, she began producing the Green Living radio show. The following year, she launched the Epoca Verde radio show, Green Living's Spanish-language counterpart. In 2014, Build A Better Planet took over management of 3rd Strike Radio, a progressive online radio station, and launched three all-music radio channels, 3rd Strike Rock, 3rd Strike Jazz & Funk, and 3rd Strike en Español to promote independent music. Soledad Haren is a freelance journalist and photographer.

Soledad holds a BBA and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. She lives in New York City.
