As U.S. President of United Way Worldwide, Stacey D. Stewart drives the strategic direction for 1,200 United Way across the United States, working with leaders throughout the United Way network to advance community impact in the areas of education, income and health – the building blocks for a good quality of life.
Prior to this appointment, Stacey was Executive Vice President, Community Impact Leadership and Learning at United Way Worldwide, where she led the transformation of communities in the areas of education, financial stability and health. This included working with local and state United Ways on the Campaign for the Common Good, United Way’s community change campaign to achieve ambitious goals to increase the number of high school graduates, financially stable families and healthy kids and adults by 2018.
Before joining United Way, Stacey was the Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President for the Office of Community and Charitable Giving at Fannie Mae. She led the Company’s foreclosure prevention efforts during the height of the recession and worked steadily to restore communities while building a housing finance system for future generations of Americans. Stacey also was the President and CEO of the Fannie Mae Foundation. Stacey’s efforts positioned Fannie Mae as the largest and most influential philanthropic institution in the country devoted to advancing affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families.
Stacey has a master's of business administration in finance from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of arts in economics from Georgetown University. She currently serves on several boards nationally and in the Washington, DC and Atlanta metro areas, including the Girl Scouts of the National Capitol Area, Jobs for America’s Graduates and the Executive Leadership Council.
