Coastal Preservation Manager, Surfrider Foundation

STEFANIE SEKICH the California Policy Manager at theGlobal Headquarters of the Surfrider Foundation. Stefanie has over 15 years of experience working for environmental and social service nonprofits. She has worked on several environmental issues including: forestry, public lands management, ocean conservation, clean water, establishing Marine Protected Areas, offshore oil drilling, and advocating for comprehensive environmental management to elected officials and resource agencies. Stefanie has a MA in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of Keele. During her time at the Surfrider Foundation, she has worked on several campaigns including the landmark "Save Trestles" campaign that successfully defeated a toll road from running through San Onofre State Beach and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Stefanie assists the chapters in California with building capacity and organizing effective programs and issue campaigns, as well as coordinating effective advocacy at state agencies and with elected representatives in State government. Stefanie assists Surfrider Foundation HQ and our 20 California chapters with statewide policy efforts, campaign planning, and program implementation.
