Teacher and public education activist

I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and have been teaching secondary mathematics for twelve years. I graduated with a degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, but soon found that the business world was not for me. After spending eight years as a stay-at-home mom to four kids, I got my teaching certificate in secondary mathematics and economics from Eastern Michigan University. I then went on to get a Master's in Science Education from Lawrence Technological University. I have spent the last nine years teaching in the Talented and Gifted program in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, but I am leaving public education to teach in an independent school.
