Associate Professor of Islamic art at the University of Texas at Austin and an archaeologist who worked for over a decade in Syria.

Stephennie Mulder, M.A. Princeton University, Ph.D. University of Pennsylvania, is Associate Professor of Art History and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a specialist in Islamic art, architecture, and archaeology who worked for over a decade in Syria and elsewhere throughout the Middle East. Dr. Mulder has published numerous articles and books on the art, architecture, and archaeology of the medieval and modern Middle East. She is a cultural heritage specialist and serves as expert adviser and board member for several heritage organizations. She is a fellow at the OpEd project, and her articles and interviews have appeared on BBC Radio, the LA Times, al-Jazeera English, RT News, and US News & World Report.
