About the Wyland Foundation
Founded by renowned environmental artist Wyland, the Wyland Foundation has helped children and families around the nation to rediscover the importance of healthy oceans and waterways through public art programs, classroom science education, and live events. The foundation gives children the tools they need to become more creative, positive, and solution-oriented. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has worked directly with more than one million children since its inception in 1993. www.wylandfoundation.org

Key Projects Include:
Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Center

The 1,000 square foot bio-diesel mobile center has served 200,000 students in the U.S. and Mexico since 2008. The exhibit demonstrates issues related to managing finite water supplies, provides a historical perspective of human impacts on water, watershed education, and opportunities for students to take positive action toward water and energy conservation. The exhibit includes an onboard 40-person theater, a running river, and even rains inside. It rolls directly into schools across the nation.

Wyland Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation
In April, the Wyland Foundation hosted a friendly competition among mayors throughout Southern California to challenge neighboring cities to see who can be the most water wise. This pledge drive encouraged Socal residents to reduce enormous amounts of water, energy and solid waste. The program will be available nationally in 2012.

Wyland Water’s Extreme Journey Interactive Maze Exhibits
These 1,000-square-foot water conservation themed mazes transform each visitor into a drop of water entering a watershed. Visitors travel through different watershed habitats including lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands, estuaries, bays, and ocean. Along the way they must navigate non- point source pollutants originating from agriculture, development, litter, and our homes. All ages learn how to make cleaner choices and will reach the reward of a healthy ocean.
