Ethicist, epidemiologist, environmentalist, editor, educator, and ethnomusicologist
Trained at five University of California campuses in public health, medical ethics, addiction medicine, economics, biology, environmental sciences, and other disciplines, Heilig works with the San Francisco Medical Society, Collaborative on Health and the Environment, California Pacific Medical Center, and as co-editor of the Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics. He has served on many nonprofit boards and appointed commissions, and is a trained hospice worker. He is a book and music critic and festival Master of Ceremonies. His views here are his own.
