Steve Hirsch, MD

As a Family Physician, I am passionate about preventing disease. Achieving a healthy weight and making exercise part of your life are key.

For the last 30 years, Steve Hirsch has enjoyed a broad based comprehensive family medicine practice in the Mississauga/Oakville area. He is on staff in the Department of Primary Care at Trillium Health Partners, a large community hospital in Mississauga. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hirsch was Chief of the Department of Family Medicine at the Credit Valley Hospital from 1992-1998. He was also a part-time Emergency Physician from 1983-2006. He graduated from Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1981, and completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto in 1983. Dr. Hirsch holds a certification and fellowship from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
In September, 2013, his book, HEALTH FIRST: Winning at Weight Loss and Wellness, was published.
Dr. Hirsch is passionate about leading a healthy life, which for him includes exercise, a healthy diet and mindfulness meditation. He has run 25 marathons, including 5 Boston Marathons, and is an avid cyclist.
