Steve McDougal

Steve McDougal, CEO of 3Degrees Group, Inc.

While admittedly always having a green streak, Steve’s renewable energy career began with a
passionate urgency to address climate change and, ironically, a news article. After spending a
significant portion of his career in strategic marketing and business development at CNET
Networks (now CBS Interactive), he came across a company called 3 Phases in an article about
a family farm’s small REC purchase. Things fell into place.

Cut to 13 years later, Steve serves as the co-founder and CEO of 3Degrees (previously part of
3 Phases). He has been a driving force for increased corporate support of renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions since entering the industry in 2003. A native of Chicago, Steve has a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Colorado College and an MBA from Northwestern University.

When taking a break from his CEO responsibilities, Steve enjoys coaching his kids’ sports teams, skiing and learning to play piano. He also sits on the board of a mid-sized educational and environmental foundation.
