Steven M. Kleinman is has over 26 years of operational and leadership experience in human intelligence, strategic interrogation, special operations, and counterterrorism, and is a veteran of three major military campaigns. He has testified as a subject matter expert on intelligence, interrogation, and detainee policy before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, the Senate Armed Services Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Intelligence Science Board’s Study on Educing Information and a consultant to U.S. and international interrogation-related research, Mr. Kleinman has been a major force in rethinking the American approach to strategic interrogation.

Mr. Kleinman is a prolific author and frequent speaker on national security and intelligence-related topics, and has appeared before such audiences as the International Terrorism and Intelligence Conference in London, the American Psychological Association, the New York City Bar Association, the National Defense Intelligence College Distinguished Speaker Series, Amnesty International, and the Home Team Academy of Singapore. His articles, research papers, and book chapters have been published in the Defense Intelligence Journal, the Journal of Psychiatry & Law, Willan Publishing (UK), and the National Defense Intelligence College Press.

He holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of California, Davis, a master of science in forensic science from the National University, and a master of science in strategic intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College.
