Summer Wu

High school student in Illinois

Summer is a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science
Academy in Aurora, Illinois, where she serves as a peer tutor and is
the Co-Editor-in-Chief of her school's newspaper, The Acronym. She is
currently the Governor of the Midwest in the Junior State of America
(JSA), a student-run political organization whose mission is to
strengthen American democracy by educating high school students.
Summer has facilitated discussions among teachers, state legislators,
and superintendents as part of the "Every Student a Citizen"
initiative, which seeks to foster the development of state policy on
civic education. An aspiring entrepreneur, she serves on the student
board of the Total Applied Learning for ENTrepreneurs (TALENT) program
and is currently working to develop a business to optimize bus routes.
Additionally, she has conducted scientific research for the past two
years and is currently developing a molecular imaging therapy for
Alzheimer's Disease at Northwestern University.
