Susan C. Scrimshaw, Ph.D., is President of The Sage Colleges, former President of Simmons College, and former Dean of the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. A medical anthropologist who grew up in Guatemala and later studied with Dr. Margaret Mead, Scrimshaw's work on women's health and on health equity for diverse populations led to her election as a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
