Susan Whiting

Vice Chair and Executive Vice President of the Nielsen Company

Susan D. Whiting is Vice Chair and Executive Vice President of The Nielsen Company. She shares oversight of the Company with Chairman and CEO David Calhoun in the Office of the CEO, and focuses on client relations.

Susan joined Nielsen Media Research in 1978 as part of the company’s management training program. She became president and chief operating officer in 2001, and within nine months assumed the role of CEO as well as president.

In 2007, Susan was appointed Chairman of Nielsen Media Research and Executive Vice President of The Nielsen Company, with marketing and product leadership responsibilities for all Nielsen business units. She was subsequently named Vice Chair and Executive Vice President of Nielsen in November 2008.

Susan serves as a member of The Nielsen Company’s Executive Council, and sits on the Board of Directors for Wilmington Trust Corporation, the Ad Council, the Center for Communication and the YMCA of Greater New York. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Chicago’s Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

Recognized in 2007 by The Wall Street Journal as one of their “Women to Watch,” Susan was named that same year by Crain’s New York Business as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in New York City. She also has been a recipient of the Humanitarian Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Outstanding Female Role Model award from the NBA Wives Association, the Women’s Venture Fund Highest Leaf Award and the President’s Award from the Imagen Foundation.

Susan Whiting graduated from Denison University with a B.A., cum laude, in Economics, and currently serves as trustee of the University.
