Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York

Contributor

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York is a not-for-profit membership organization that was founded in 1906 to enhance trade between Sweden and the United States. It is the first and leading Swedish-American Chamber in the U.S., and also the largest and most active Swedish Chamber outside of Sweden. Since 2008, SACC New York has organized an annual Green Summit, a conference focusing on green issues in various areas. Last year’s focus was on sustainability in the food chain. Because of the inexhaustible number of issues pertaining to the subject the Chamber has decided to maintain sustainability as the focus for this year’s Green Summit, redoubling its efforts to spread the message and insights generated from the conference. Each week leading up to the conference on October 3, 2012, the Chamber will shed light on an aspect of sustainability, and specifically, the issue of feeding a city. With more than 8 million people living in New York it is the most populous urban area in the United States, which makes this a focal issue – how can the needs of such a vast number of people be met in a responsible manner over a long period of time?
