Tara Lal

Firefighter, Author & Physiotherapist.

Tara J. Lal is a female firefighter in Sydney, Australia. Born in London, to a British mother and Indian father, she holds two university degrees and is a practising physiotherapist. She is trained in suicide prevention, mental health first aid and crisis intervention. She has managed the Critical Incident Support Program in Fire & Rescue NSW, working with researchers to promote mental health in firefighters. Tara began writing her book in 2008, having carried her brother's diaries with her for over two decades. Her vision through sharing her and her brothers story is to raise awareness of suicide and to encourage people to reach out for help, to connect and to provide insight into how we may all be able to find growth after trauma.
