Tobias Rees is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the Department of Social Studies of Medicine, McGill University in Quebec, Canada; a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Advanced Research, and a Berggruen scholar. His research focuses on all those aspects of contemporary science and technologythat challenge established conceptions of the human, with a special focus on brain science, microbiome research, and artificial intelligence. Books: Designs for an Anthropology of the Contemporary (2008); Plastic Reason. An Anthropologyof Brain Science (2016), and After Ethnos. Sketches of a Deanthropologized Anthropology (2017). Dr. Rees is also Visiting Professors at the University of California at San Francisco and the Metaorganism Center at the University of Kiel, Germany.
