Tom Angell

Founder and Chairman, Marijuana Majority

Tom Angell is the founder and chairman of Marijuana Majority, an organization that exists to help more people understand the simple fact that marijuana legalization and decriminalization are mainstream, majority-support positions and that there's no reason those who support replacing failed marijuana criminalization policies should be afraid to say so.

In addition to running Marijuana Majority, Tom serves as media relations director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, an organization of police, prosecutors, judges and other criminal justice professionals who have seen the harms of the "war on drugs" up close and are now pushing to replace failed prohibition polices with legalization, regulation and control of drugs.

Before joining LEAP’s staff, Tom worked for six years with Students for Sensible Drug Policy, first as a student chapter leader and then as a national staffer handling the organization’s media outreach and congressional lobbying efforts. While still in college, Tom co-founded the Rhode Island Patient Advocacy Coalition, which successfully pushed to enact a medical marijuana law in the Ocean State.

He lives in Berkeley, CA.
