Thomas (Tom) Jay Reiman was born in Chicago in 1949, moved to Atlanta in 1952, where he grew up. He attended public schools in Atlanta, Tulane University, and graduated from Ga. State University with a BA in English and Political Science. He received a JD cum laude from Mercer University in 1974.

Tom started his career as an attorney for AT&T in Atlanta, and held various legal positions in the Bell System in Atlanta, New York, Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis. In 1989 he moved from the Law Department to Senior Management as Vice President-Marketing of Indiana Bell. He held various positions at Indiana Bell, including Chairman, President and CEO. He moved back to Chicago to Ameritech, the parent company of Indiana Bell, as Sr. Vice President State and Government Affairs. After holding various senior leadership positions at Ameritech, he retired in 2000 as Sr. Vice President, Public Policy, after Ameritech merged with SBC Communications (now AT&T).

After retiring from Ameritech, Tom was Chairman and then Interim CEO of Anicom, Inc. in Chicago, and then held the position of Lecturer, and then Business Management Professor, at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Business.

Tom has two children, Amanda and Scott, who both reside in the Bay Area of California. He and his wife Wendy have been married for 42 years.
