Ursula Burton

Filmmaker; Actor; Founder, Five Sisters Productions

Ursula is a filmmaker, actor, and a founder of FIVE SISTERS PRODUCTIONS. Together with her four sisters, Burton has produced feature films including LETTING GO OF GOD, JUST FRIENDS, MANNA FROM HEAVEN, and the award-winning TEMPS. Numerous commercials, PSAs, and short films include the Faces of Ford campaign, “Mamas for Obama” spots, and the campaign for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking. She wrote and directed the award-winning comedy, THE HAPPIEST DAY OF HIS LIFE, which won a Viewer's Choice Award on MTV's LOGO Channel, and qualified for the Academy Awards. The film is now being used as a teaching tool in high schools and universities to show how media can change perceptions of gender. Projects in production include OLD GUY (a comedic web series about the image of aging in the media), KINGS, QUEENS & IN-BETWEENS (a documentary on drag queens, kings, and transgender performers in Ohio). Projects in development include MERCURY 13 (a feature inspired by the 13 women tested to be astronauts in 1961) and a fairy tale feature film. As an actor, she is currently recurring on GREY’S ANATOMY and HART OF DIXIE. Her other TV work includes recurring roles on THE OFFICE and the hit BBC sitcom MY FAMILY, as well as appearing on CASTLE, SCANDAL, 2 BROKE GIRLS, THE MIDDLE, CRIMINAL MINDS, GHOST WHISPERER, WILFRED, and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. Film roles include SGT. BILKO, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, MAFIA, and THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD. She can often be heard in audio drama productions including the BBC Radio 4’s "The Hireling," DOCTOR WHO, DARK SHADOWS, and STARGATE. In addition, the specialty card decks she created, "52 Questions Before Marriage or Moving In" and "52 Questions Before Baby," are being distributed by the acclaimed therapy and research center, The Gottman Institute. Burton sits on the YaleWomen Council, is a board member of both YaleWomen LA and the Yale Club of LA, and is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors.
