Valerie Tarico

Psychologist, writer, former evangelical

Psychologist Valerie Tarico has a passion for personal and societal evolution. As a social commentator, Tarico writes about issues spanning Christian fundamentalism, the role of women in society, reproductive rights and health, contraceptive technologies, and the intersection of these. Her articles appear in edited books including Beyond Belief (eds. S. Tive and C. Ostman) and the Prometheus counter-apologetics trilogy edited by John Loftus. She contributes to a variety of online news and opinion sites. Tarico’s book, Trusting Doubt: A Former Evangelical Looks at Old Beliefs in a New Light, explores moral and rational inconsistencies in fundamentalist Christian traditions, and offers personal insight into the application of “constructive curiosity” to our most closely guarded beliefs.
