W. Scott Poole is the author of "Wasteland: The Great War and the Origins of Modern Horror" out October, 2018. He is a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award for his work on H.P. Lovecraft "At the Mountains of Madness."He is also the biographer of Maila Nurmi (Vampira) and the author of the award-winning 2011 "Monsters in America." A professor of history at the College of Charleston, he teaches courses on the the history of horror, race, and politics in popular culture.
