YUSRA TEKBALI has a media and communications background and is interested in building bridges of communication across cultures. Yusra worked as a media fixer, news producer and aid worker in the MENA region following the Arab revolts in 2012. Yusra is a contributing writer in the critically acclaimed book "I Speak For Myself: American Women on Being Muslim" and has participated in forums and conferences related to media diversity in the Middle East and United States. Yusra's articles and blog posts have been published in The Washington Diplomat, The Tripoli Post, Libya Herald, The Arizona Daily Star, Common Ground News Service, Muslimah Media Watch, Chicago Public Radio, Al Jazeera English, The Arab American News, CNN, and Huffington Post. She has been interviewed by several media outlets including BBC, AlJazeera and CNN. Yusra speaks Arabic and Spanish. She graduated from the University of Arizona with degrees in Journalism and Near Eastern studies.
