Zander Srodes

21-year-old environmentalist and founder of Turtle Talks

Zander Srodes is from Washington, D.C. and is 21 years old.

When I created Turtle Talks at age eleven I thought that being a child, would be my biggest hurdle. As he now completes his 10th year, he looks towards the future. His dream is for Turtle Talks to evolve in a way that allows it to make the biggest impact for eco-literacy and conservation.

Turtle Talks is an eco-literacy project. Zander's campaign has been to use creative and innovative efforts aimed at changing the attitudes and perspectives of different cultures about their natural resources. He has away over 200,000 copies of his sea turtle activity book in five languages, hosted fun outreach events, and organized football teams. His focus is to continue traveling to underserved communities and becoming personally involved in the challenges that they face. He feels that he can generate more support for sea turtles than ever before, and result in a new generation of youth conservationists.
