What qualifies me to make such a list? Because I write alphas, I read alphas, heck I even married an alpha (Hi, Alpha Man!). I believe an alpha has to be lovable as well as strong. My latest hero, sexy firefighter Jack Harper from "Always On My Mind," is the captain of a fire station -- a man who regularly straps on hundreds of pounds of equipment and throws himself into an inferno to rescue people. But at the same time, when Jack strips off his uniform, he can cook a mean pancake (and does, for a charity breakfast), and he's man enough to say "I need you." Like a martini, I think that alphas are better with a twist. Plus how can you resist a man who says, "New rule. No more rules."
