Going to a state school to cut down on tuition? According to US News and World Report, for out-of-state students, some public universities can be quite pricey.

While the average out-of-state student at a public institution paid $16,678 in tuition and required fees in the 2010-11 school year, students at the University of Michigan--Ann Arbor, the school with the most expensive out-of-state tuition and fees, paid $36,163. The average cost of tuition and fees at the 10 most expensive universities for out-of-state students was $34,290 in the 2010-11 academic year.
